Rules:
The 9DKP Grand Tournament is an event held at the 9DKP booth to compete for prizes administered by ESCTOY.com. The event has no entry fee, however the only requirement for signing up is to own and use a complete 40-card 9DKP TCG deck that is tournament legal. Only a full name and email is requested upon from ESCTOY.com in order to give out said prizes.
Using the 9DKP App
Entrants are also highly recommended to use the 9DKP TCG Companion App
(available on Google Play Store and App Store) on whatever smart device supports it, as this is the main tool used for competitive play outside of their decks. All games played in tournament use a ruleset of 3000 HP and 0 DKP. Additionally, timers of 60 seconds per turn will also be utilized from the app.
Deck Building
The rules for a legal tournament deck are simple:
● The deck must be a card count of 40. No more and no less.
● Up to 3 copies of a single card is allowed.
○ POW cards are the exception, only a single copy of each
faction is allowed (i.e. 1 Kat POW, 1 Survivor POW, and 1
Zombie POW)
● Cards from Series 1, 2, and 3 are allowed to be mixed.
Tournament Organization
The tournament will be organized depending on the amount of players that have entered. For numbers like 8 or 12 entrants, the tournament is ran under two segments:
1) Preliminaries – The entrants are separated into smaller groups
known as “pools.” Games are played best of 3.
a) If 8 entrants, 2 pools of 4. 2 from each pool will advance.
b) If 12 entrants, 4 pools of 3. 1 from each pool will advance.
The best performing out of their pools will move onto semifinals and
so forth.
2) Semifinals, etc. – The second half is a four person bracket played
under double elimination. Games are played best of 3. During
matches like Grand Finals played however (playing for 1st and 3rd
respectively), games are played best of 5.
This method ensures that new players are able to participate in more games.
However, this still entails that they can be removed from the tournament given that the players earns enough losses.
Tournament Organization (Optional)
If however, more people beyond an even number of 12 are to enter, an overall
single elimination bracket must be enforced to ensure that the games move at a brisk pace with the convention schedule.
Once that is cleared up, the tournament plays, the winners are announced, and
